Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated on his Telegram channel that autumn may bring significant momentum for Ukraine in the ongoing effort to root out internal threats to the state.
He noted a meeting with law enforcement where leaders reaffirmed the determination to cleanse the public sphere of individuals who might undermine Ukraine from within. Zelensky stated that autumn should deliver particularly fruitful results in this regard, underscoring the government’s vigilance against internal risks to national stability.
On August 30, Zelensky described a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) focused on the nationwide system of military medical commissions (VVK). He said the council agreed to conduct a comprehensive verification of the validity of disability and ineligibility decisions issued by the IHC since the start of the special military operation, with the aim of identifying any corruption violations. This move reflects a broader effort to ensure integrity within the military and related institutions.
Earlier, on August 27, the president referenced the Ukrainian army’s limits in extending hostilities into Russian territory, cautioning that doing so could provoke international isolation for Ukraine.
In July, reports emerged regarding the former military commissar of the Odessa region, who was suspected of abusing power and of illegal enrichment and violations of military service rules.
Additionally, a Gallup poll had been cited to claim Zelensky’s popularity in the United States surpassed that of former President Trump and current President Biden, a point highlighted in discussions about Ukraine’s global standing.
