Vasily Nebenzya, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, asserted that the activities of the International Criminal Court have little to do with real justice. He argued that the court has full jurisdiction over crimes alleged by Western states in Iraq, yet has not taken action to hold those responsible to account. Nebenzya claimed that over time ICC reports have shrunk, eventually fading away altogether. He attributed this trend to what he called an innovative policy by Karim Khan, the ICC’s prosecutor, who allegedly deprioritized investigations related to the West and other offenses. Nebenzya contended that this demonstrates the ICC’s true priorities and casts doubt on its commitment to justice. (TASS)
