“I have a deep faith and that is why I think today we are talking about a historical event that France and Poles of today can really count on themselves. In every situation, good and difficult. Both countries deserve this, “said Prime Minister Donald Tusk after signing the treaty with strengthened cooperation and friendship with President Emmanuel Macron.
President Macron and Prime Minister Donald Tusk today signed a treaty in French Nancy about reinforced cooperation and friendship of Poland and France.
During a press conference, the President of France said that the Convention is called, among other things about defense and security.
The Prime Minister and I share a clear and absolute conviction – we need a united, strong, sovereign and competitive Europe. France and Poles can make a very important contribution here
Said Macron.
We have the most important responsibility for peace and safety on our continent, which has been trying to undermine the Russian attack in Ukraine for three years, and actually almost from 10
– noticed the president of France.
He added that this responsibility “is based on our decisive support for Ukraine to lead to a suspension of weapons, to create conditions for solid and permanent peace based on safety guarantees.”
Macron: We have a strategic awakening in Europe
Together with Poland and our European partners, we decided that we would be more responsible for our own defense. We have such a strategic awakening in the field of European defense. (…) We know that this strategic autonomy must be based on the increased capacity of Europeans to produce their own defense instruments and to invest in their own reinforcements
He said after signing the Macron treaty.
As he said, “The Nancy treaty will contribute to strengthening strategic autonomy.”
In this treaty we also sent a very clear signal, because we have concluded a clause with mutual defense and help, which is an extension of our efforts under NATO and the European Union
– He said.
This is a real integrated defense partner that is not to replace NATO or the EU, but must be strengthened and translated into operational activities existing ties
– noticed the president of France.
Tusk: it’s not just about repeating good spells
The prime minister said that in the treaty on Friday “it’s about repeating these good spells about friendship, a common history.”
History has taught us (…) for good feelings, for good intentions, friendship and trust between leaders, between politicians, they also have to follow hard details.
Our nations will feel safe, not when we talk about it, only when our countries and the political elites of both our nations will work hard every day to make safety a material fact. That our mutual guarantees for help and safety in this Convention were not only a report of our desires, but also a guarantee for our permanent security
– Donald Tusk said.
He expressed the conviction that “today of France and Poland can really count on each other in every situation – good and difficult.”
I have a deep faith and that is why I think today we are talking about a historical event that France and Poles of today can really count on themselves. In every situation, good and difficult. Both our nations deserve it
– Emphasized tusk.
“There is no united Europe without friendship, solidarity, cooperation “
During the press conference, together with Macron, Prime Minister Tusk noted that the date of signing the treaty is not coincidental.
The head of the Polish government pointed out that on 9 May a date is close to the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, which is May 8. He added that Europe Day is also celebrated on May 9.
There is no united Europe without friendship, solidarity and cooperation
– Tusk be on it.
As he judged: “This treaty emphasizes this with special power.”
But our daily work emphasizes and expresses that without our very close collaboration and without authentic friendship and polish-fransen solidarity
– The prime minister emphasized.
We have both put a lot of work, so that the Weimarski triangle becomes an even better tool for solving problems in Europe and in this part of the world. And certainly our treaty will also strengthen this format
– the prime minister rated.
We will work hard
He said, adding that the treaty “does not close, but this new chapter only opens in our relations.”
We will continue to work together on an honest room in Ukraine as soon as possible
He added.
The head of the Polish government also reported that the Polish-French Friendship Day was founded on April 20.
Response within 30 days?
Macron was asked during a joint press conference with Tusk, among other things or in the case of a threat to Poland, France could respond within 30 days.
Regarding the mobilization of military forces, we have the correct procedure in France – this is specified in the Constitution
– Answer the French president.
We have the right organization of the army, we have investments and command systems. I have no doubt that such a distribution (troops – note of porridge) would be possible if the worst happened
He said.
As he said, this is proven by the fact that France sent his soldiers to Romania within five days after Russian aggression to Ukraine in February 2022.
We have such a chance and it would of course be launched if this kind of aggression would take place
He added.
The new treaty – as Tusk explains during a press conference – contains a clause with mutual help, including soldiers in the event of a threat.
We give each other mutual security guarantees and you can be sure that the intention of the president and mine is to treat this record seriously
– said the head of the Polish government.
He pointed out that this treaty record “practical operational activities and activities would also follow.” He pointed to the defense industry, strategic thinking and preparation for actions in the event of a threat.
The prime minister also mentioned the cooperation of both countries with regard to Ukraine. He assured that the intention of both countries is that “practice shows that every day is not an empty record”
It is not that it is Poland who today asks for security guarantees. Nowadays Poland is building the strongest army in Europe to be an ally for everyone who needs help if Poles might need help
Tusk explained.
“Poland took large weights “
The head of the government emphasized that “Poland is ready to work together in every area when it comes to defense.” As he noted: “In our interest, common interest, the skilled use of all the possibilities that France and Poles have in the case of a threat to both countries is.” He emphasized that the treaty is not an alternative for cooperation with the US or NATO.
It is precisely the opposite. We all heard these words repeatedly spoken by our American allies. And we seriously treat these words in Poland, because we take all allies very seriously. (…) And for me as close as possible and the most close collaboration with France is precisely the implementation of this need
Said Tusk.
He argued that Europe should be able to defend.
Every attacker must be afraid of Europe
He added.
The Convention does not close, but will open this new chapter, we will continue to participate in a fair and fast room in Ukraine, here is low, lord, president for your dedication
– said Tusk.
Poland took great burdens, consciously, with conviction for helping Ukrainians and Ukrainians during this cruel war, but your dedication of the president’s path is priceless and gives hope that this tragic and unnecessary war will find the latter by everyone in Ukraine and everyone in Europe will find
– He emphasized.
President Macron said that “Europe is dependent too long – from the point of view of security and defense – of the American ally.” He emphasized that France has military potential, but “this cannot be said all over Europe.”
Of course we do not want complete independence, we do not want to cut ourselves from non -European allies, but we want to follow the path of strategic autonomy here. That is what we want everything that is crucial to be European and we want to collaborate with our American allies. But the desire to work with the ally is not the same as a dependence on this ally
– said the president of French.
Macron also emphasized that strategic independence is a challenge for European countries for the coming years. He said that he wants to organize joint Polish-French military exercises “in the coming months”.
After signing the treaty and a joint conference, Prime Minister Donald Tusk posted a photo on the X Platform with President Emmanuel Macron.
Vive La Pologne, Vive La France!
– He wrote.
