A few hundred people protested on the border bridge with Germany in Zgorzelec (Dolnośląskie Voivodship) against migration policy in the European Union. Among other things, they were demanded the start of immediate border control through the Polish side modeled to the person who has carried out Germany since 2023.
This is another protest, the previous one took place on March 8 in the border with Germany in Słubice; Their organizer is the national activist Robert Bąkiewicz and the clubs of Gazeta Polska.
On the Polish side of the border bridge in Zgorzelec, symbolic, wooden barriers with the inscription: Stop and stop were placed on both lanes. On the German side, the local police blocked the ride and the border could only be crossed on foot. The manifesters kept the banners at the slogans: “Germany, don’t throw your guests to the threshold”, “Stop Relocation”, “Christian Polen, not Muslim.” The slogans were sung: “Poland is here”, “down with the European Union”.
Bąkiewicz said that the attached barriers are to symbolize the disagreement with the invasion of migrants to Poland, which – in his opinion – is already taking place and is part of the Hybrid War that has also held against our country by our Western neighbor.
Bąkiewicz suggested that as part of self -organization he would view all border crossings on the borders with Germany.
We will pass on information, we will take those who commit crimes. We will show the German police, who arrives illegally here. We will show Polish police officers and the border guard if they also participate in this crime
He said.
During the demonstration, two MPs of justice and justice also spoke Szymon Pogoda and Janusz Kowalski. The latter, among other things, demanded immediate recovery of border controls during transitions with Germany.
German checks on the border with Poland
The controls on the border of German-Polish have been going on since October 2023. They are performed on the basis of the Dublin III procedure. It indicates that only one Member State is responsible for considering the application for protection in the European Union – usually the first EU state whose limit was exceeded by the foreigner who applies for protection. On this legal basis, foreigners turn to countries responsible for considering their refugee applications.
On March 11, during the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, the EC presented a proposal for the return principles of new, EU migrants. The point is to create a system to send migrants who are common for all Member States who do not have the right to stay in the EU area. The new regulation is to supplement the migration pact. According to asylum applications, asylum applications must be considered faster and more effectively, but for the entire system to work efficiently, it was also necessary to introduce the rules to steer migrants in a situation in which the asylum decision refuses.
Poland is one of the countries that have not submitted their plan to implement these provisions in Brussels. The rulers have repeatedly stated that Poland does not intend to carry out the provisions of the pact. In February, during a meeting with the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that “Poland would not implement a migration pact in a way that would cause extra, quantities of migrants in Poland.”
