As leftist ideology spread across the world and conquered new institutions, including economic ones, it was trumpeted with all its might. Until recently, the economic press was also under great pressure. I remember a few covers and a lot of lyrics “The Economist”which surprised me because they were a rejection of common sense and basic economic and social rules.
Today there is no trace of that mood anymore. But messages about discrediting neo-communist ideas are not printed on the covers, not with the recognition of the then derided “retrograde” polemicists, but in the “curios of the week” columns.
Leaving this bitter remark aside, it is worth making the last remark.
The aforementioned “The Economist” reports this in just one issue Meta (the parent company of Facebook, among others)” joined the growing list of US companies ending or limiting DEI or “diversity, equity and inclusion” programs. We can translate it as “diversity, equality and inclusion.”
Reason for changes?
“The social media company said the legal and political landscape has changed and also noted a change in the stance of the Supreme Court, which banned the use of such preferences in the college admissions process. “DEI policy has also become a negatively understood term, interpreted as a preference given to some groups at the expense of others.”
The weekly also mentions recent decisions Mark Zuckerbergerfounder of Facebook and head of Meta, on removing tampons from men’s toilets. For the left, the implementation of this nonsense was an important stage in the destruction of the truth about the human race.
We are also reminded of Zuckerberger’s reflections on a “culturally neutered” organization and the need for “masculine energy.”
Another change cited by The Economist concerns the situation Sturbux – the company changed its “open policy” regarding restrooms. From now on they are only available to customers and violence, drug use, smoking and begging are prohibited.
Previously, companies like Targer significantly reduced or eliminated their DEI programs. Amazon, McDonald;p, Walmart. The latter retail giant also announced (according to TIME) that it will better monitor the supply of goods aimed at groups of LGBTQ+ minors, including ‘breast pads’ for ‘trans youth’.
Ford abandon the “equity” rankings for companies, which was a de facto tool to pressure the implementation of DEI policies. This also applies to Brown-Forman, maker of Jack Daniels whisky.
Harley Davidson searches the list of organizations it sponsors, omitting ideological organizations and focusing on organizations that promote motorcycle spots and support people in uniform. It also omits gender and racial “employment quotas.”
Company John Deera farm equipment manufacturer based in Moline, Illinois, said in July that it would no longer sponsor events that “increase social or cultural awareness” and that it would audit all training materials “to ensure the absence of socially motivated messages” in compliance of federal law and local law.” The company added that “the existence of diversity quotas and pronoun identification has never been and is not company policy,” but that it will continue to “monitor and promote” the company’s diversity.
A retail chain focused on the countryside Tractor offer announced in June that it would shut down some diversity and climate business activities – forced by customer pushback.
Of course, the left is not giving up, threatening boycotts, calling for CEO resignations, and management is largely left-wing. But shareholders want change because left-wing madness is spoiling business. On the one hand, it reduces the efficiency of companies due to non-qualitative criteria for selecting employees, and on the other hand, it introduces such chaos that running a business is impossible. In 2022 alone, Sturbucks had to close as many as sixteen restaurants in urban areas due to repeated ‘incidents’ that compromised the safety of employees and customers.
The leftist social agenda is a road to nowhere. There are many indications that big business has also understood this – although not yet in our country. But change, as in the case of economy-killing ‘climate policies’, may be a matter of time. Maybe, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Much depends on the attitude of each of us.
