Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that he had asked Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski to recommend that Polish consulates in the United States be prepared for possible deportations of Poles from the United States, in connection with President Donald Trump’s announcements .
After the first announcements about possible deportations of illegal immigrants from the United States, I asked the Minister of Foreign Affairs to prepare our consulates, posts and services in the United States for the possible consequences of these decisions regarding Polish labor and working conditions. living in the United States with varying status and levels of legality
– said the Prime Minister before Tuesday’s government meeting.
He added that the US government has not yet released the details of the “deportation action” announced by President Trump.
We have not received any information as to whether this operation could affect Polish citizens living in the United States. Either way, we must be prepared. Therefore, our offices in the United States will contact our citizens who are concerned about this situation as soon as possible.
– declared the Prime Minister.
He assured that Poles residing in the United States will be able to count on assistance from consular officials and the Polish government.
There may be no reasons for concern, but Poland will be well prepared for any situation. Every Pole will be warmly welcomed to the country. Everyone will find a place in their homeland. Everyone will find their America here. A lot has changed in recent years. Anyone who wants to work, who believes in his own future, his own strength, will find the right place in Poland. We will welcome everyone without exception with open arms
– noted the head of government.
As he said, he asked the relevant services to facilitate, if necessary, the return of all interested parties to Poland. He also called on all Poles living abroad to return to the country.
Even before Trump was sworn in as president, there were announcements from his entourage that as soon as he took office, a large-scale arrest of migrants staying in the United States illegally, especially those who had broken the law, would begin. Trump also spoke about it in January: “Just moments after my inauguration, we will launch the largest deportation operation in American history.”
One of the president’s closest advisers, Stephen Miller, announced that Trump would issue executive orders that would “not only completely close the southern border, stop illegal immigration, begin mass deportations of illegal immigrants and criminals in this country, but would also begin the process of eliminating once and for all the threat posed by criminal cartels in every country, systematically dismantling every transnational street gang.”
On Monday, Trump signed several regulations and documents, including declaring a state of emergency at the border with Mexico and changing the application of the land law, that is, acquiring citizenship by birth in the US. According to the issued document, this law does not apply to children of illegal immigrants and people who stay in the US for short periods, including, for example, visa-free travel.
Jabłoński: “The Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland is increasingly spoiling Poland’s relations with the US”
Paweł Jabłoński responded to Donald Tusk’s threat that the new US president’s fight against illegal migration could impact Poland on the X platform.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland is increasingly corrupting Poland’s relations with the US and inciting psychoses among Poles living there. Extremely irresponsible – especially when our security depends on good relations with the United States
– wrote Paweł Jabłoński, PiS MP, on the X platform.
We encourage compatriots living abroad whose passports have expired to obtain new documents. In the US, we perform additional consular duties, including outside consulate buildings. It is also worth doing this in order to vote in the elections for the President of the Republic of Poland
– wrote Radosław Sikorski on the X platform.
Tusk tries to be malicious towards Morawiecki
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed people who hold government positions today and in the past, including former prime ministers and presidents, and assured them that they can always use the help of Polish diplomatic missions if they encounter problems abroad.
He referred to media reports about the incident during former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s visit to Washington. Based on a social media post by Oliya Scootercaster, who presents herself as an American-Ukrainian freelance journalist, some Polish media reported that Morawiecki had difficulty participating in the meeting in connection with the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States Monday. Morawiecki himself denied these reports.
The Prime Minister referred to the issue before Tuesday’s government meeting.
I have this remark to everyone who, without exception, holds government positions today and has held high government positions in the past, for example, former prime ministers and presidents: you can always use the help of Polish institutions – ambassadors, ambassadors, consuls – whenever you come in trouble.
– said Tusk.
He stated that “if someone with such a status as the former Prime Minister goes to a country, it is good to inform our office, it can also help in some situations.”
This allows us to avoid shocking or unpleasant events
– added the Prime Minister.
On Monday, Morawiecki said in a recording on the X website that the “first and most important information” about the story heard about him from Washington is that it is a lie. He emphasized that Washington was completely blocked due to President Trump’s inauguration, so he decided to walk to the previously arranged interview.
I approached the guards or soldiers to ask for directions, they asked where I was going, I said I was going for an interview, they asked who I was, I said I was a member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, former Prime Minister minister, head of the European Conservatives and Reformists. I didn’t have a badge, so they asked me to attach it. (…) They showed me the way, all the way around, I finally got to the interview, I gave the interview. And that’s the truth about what happened in Washington yesterday. The rest is manipulation
– said the former head of government.
It would be good if Donald Tusk would focus on how to work with the new US administration, despite the fact that he has made outrageous comments about Donald Trump in the past and even suggested that he is a Russian agent. As you can see, Tusk instead creates a fear psychosis among the Poles living in the US.
