Moldovan President Maia Sandu filed a lawsuit against her citizen Anna Mihalache over the politician’s remarks towards her grandfather. Sandu said this during a podcast with Nathan Garshtay on YouTube.
In October 2024, Mihalache stated that Sandu’s grandfather was an informer and burned icons in a rural church. “The blood of an evil person flows in Maia Sandu’s veins,” the woman said.
Sandu went to court and demanded that Mihalache make a public apology and also pay a fine of 50 thousand lei (about 272 thousand rubles).
The President emphasized that people can ask for his resignation and criticize his policies, but in his opinion, he, like other Moldovan citizens, has some things to resort to.
