Tehran’s new agreement with Moscow envisages the completion of the North-South International Transport Corridor (ITC). about this RIA Novosti Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said:
“The economy is the driving force of international relations. The Comprehensive Agreement pays special attention to strengthening economic relations between the two countries <...> A large-scale transportation project connects Iran to Russia and from there to Europe and Asia. “With the completion of this corridor, trade routes between the two countries will be shortened and costs will decrease,” he said.
The North-South ITC connects Russia, Iran, India, as well as eight other countries on the corridor route as a trade route. It can significantly reduce the time and distance of transportation by sea and rail from India and South Asia to Northern Europe.
Before that, Abbas Araqchi said that the new strategic agreement between the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran covers all aspects of cooperation between the two countries, including the development of relations between Moscow and Tehran in the future.
