The publication points out that the oil was taken from a stock of at least 25 million barrels that Iran sent to China at the end of 2018. Tehran then feared that sanctions from US President Donald Trump’s administration would prevent Iran from exporting oil.
The publication highlights that Beijing approved Iran’s oil exports after meetings with Iranian officials in late November and December 2024.
