The opposition constantly criticizes the merger of PKN Orlen and Lotos. Donald Tusk said the head of the Hungarian LDC is a “bribe” and that the merger is a scandal of the century. In turn, Gdansk Mayor Aleksandra Dulkiewicz argued that “Lotos was handed over to murderers, bribes and criminals.” Orlen’s former president, Zbigniew Wróbel, spoke about the matter. In an interview on RMF FM, he said these are politically motivated fears.
“They do business with the bribes”; “This is the scandal of the century”
– President of Obajtek: There is no Russian capital in MOL. We not only sell 400 stations, but also buy. The opposition doesn’t talk about it
– Dulkiewicz’s absurd blow to the merger: “The GdaÅ„sk Lotos was handed over to murderers, bribes and criminals”
Hysteria of the opposition after the merger between Orlen and Lotos
The former president of PKN Orlen referred to accusations by opposition politicians that the sale of shares in the Gdańsk refinery Saudi Aramco and gas stations to the Hungarian MOL is dangerous, as these assets may be sold to Russia in the future.
Zbigniew Wróbel pointed out that he himself would not be enthusiastic about it. He explained that the Russian Lukoil has been on the Polish market for more than 10 years and has about 100 stations under the Amic brand. In turn, the Hungarian MOL has been in Poland for 20 years – 80 stations under the Slovnaft brand. He explained that if this were a threat, the signals would be long overdue.
This is the heating of emotions. There is no Russian capital in MOL, but there is Polish capital – 20 percent. In my opinion, these are not the fears we should be afraid of. They are politically heated
– emphasized Wróbel, adding that “there is a difference between marketing and propaganda”.
He pointed out that there may not be much truth in propaganda, but marketing is another ballet and here you need reliability – stock market analysts see everything and take responsibility for their words.
I would not introduce the Russian spirit here, which does not mean that we should not fear and guard our Polish backyard, because of course such attacks can take place, especially in the context of the Ukrainian war and our unequivocal opposition to Russia. The consequences can vary. I would expect economic attacks, but not from this side
– said the former president of Orlen.
Government Spokesperson: I am surprised by opposition politicians criticizing her. It is against the interests of Russia and Germany
– Connection of Orlen with Lotos. President of Obajtek: As of today, we are one company. We start working. ‘Together we can do more’
