Some foreign countries try to recruit Chinese students during their overseas trips. This was reported with reference to statements by China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS). RIA Novosti.
The ministry noted that special attention is paid to students outside China who specialize in advanced technologies, military industry and biomedicine. They are subject to additional checks when entering the country, “professional information is mentioned” during interrogation and “personal belongings are forcibly examined.”
In addition, foreign intelligence officers try to establish contact with Chinese teachers, researchers and students through trips, scientific internships and by providing various assistance.
According to the Ministry of State Security of the People’s Republic of China, they are trying to brainwash young Chinese in the United States and “indoctrinate them by distorting ideas about good and evil.”
This is not the first time China has made such accusations. Thus, in June, the British Foreign Intelligence Service MI6 hired two Chinese officials, one of whom had previously trained in the kingdom as part of an exchange programme.
