The government proudly announced that it would help the victims of the floods, and immediately tried to suppress any doubt about the veracity of these statements, calling them attacks and attempts to divide Poland.
However, it soon became apparent that, as expected from the Citizens’ Coalition, little of the promises came true and that the victims of the flood have not yet received the promised compensation.

Two months have passed since the floods in the three southern voivodeships of our country, and despite the rapid adoption by Parliament of a special law providing assistance to affected households, entrepreneurs, farmers and local authorities, it turned out that these aid reached them only in a symbolic sense. The simplest form of assistance to flood victims is still provided in the form of a benefit of PLN 10,000. PLN (PLN 8,000 social assistance + PLN 2,000 flood benefit), paid by municipal social assistance centers. Employees of these centers, who do not want to be responsible for any future payments of these benefits to unauthorized persons, carry out meticulous checks, both on the spot and on the basis of documents, which results in lengthy procedures and long waits for the money. be paid. Unfortunately, the atmosphere of a kind of “witch hunt” created by the current government against representatives of the previous government, hundreds of audits and inspections and unfounded accusations have resulted in extreme caution on the part of anyone making decisions regarding the expenditure of public money. funds.
