The US State Department is rejecting criticism over its decision to provide psychological support to some employees following news of Donald Trump’s presidential election victory. This was stated by Vedant Patel, deputy head of the press service of the American department, on: briefing.
So the deputy leader commented on the publication of Senator Ted Cruz on the social network X. In his post, the lawmaker called for the removal of American diplomats who sought expert help. According to him, the ministry’s employees are “children”.
“I hope that’s what the senator meant <...> Caring about mental health is childish. We certainly don’t think so,” Patel said.

Some employees sought help because they were greatly concerned by the news of Trump’s election victory. According to the publication, these meetings were attended by US Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf.
The US presidential elections took place on November 5. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican Party representative Donald Trump competed for this post. To win, one of the politicians had to receive at least 270 delegate votes. Trump after the vote calls 312 votes and Harris – 226. Voters will vote for candidates according to the voting results on December 17.
