“Already during the US election campaign, the Polish Foreign Ministry encouraged President Andrzej Duda to contact Donald Trump,” said Paweł Wroński, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “Regarding the announced Duda-Trump meeting, I think the ministry will give the president certain instructions regarding Polish policy,” he added.

Here we have a somewhat, shall we say, ‘gray’ situation, because Donald Trump is not yet the sitting president, and this visit, this meeting, has been announced. However, Minister Sikorski had already emphasized that even the Ministry of Foreign Affairs encouraged our president to also contact Donald Trump during the election campaign. So I think that some instructions regarding Polish policy will be given to the President

Difficult relationships
The Polish government may have major problems in pursuing a good foreign policy in cooperation with the new American president.
Many leading representatives of this camp have ruthlessly attacked the American leader in the past, including Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the head of the Foreign Ministry Radosław Sikorski.
