Price interventions were applied during the energy crisis. Today, in a situation of a stabilizing energy market, the price freeze should be gradually abolished – argued Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Climate and Environment, in an interview for “Gazeta Wyborcza”. “We diversify the support rules”
The head of the Ministry of Climate was asked, among other things: about the feeling of freezing energy prices, since “a millionaire from the Złota 44 apartment complex pays the same for electricity as a poor family living in the province.” Such things in “GW”, ladies and gentlemen. Hennig-Kloska recalled that “price interventions were used during the energy crisis.” She pointed out that “today, in a situation of a stabilizing energy market, the price freeze must be gradually abolished.”
This process must take into account citizens’ different living situations to see if they can pay their bills. That is why, unlike our predecessors, we diversified the support rules for electricity consumers and introduced an energy voucher, support with an income threshold, which was used by more than 2.4 million households.

Asked whether electricity is currently expensive in Poland, she said that “on the wholesale market we are at the upper limits of EU prices, so we have a lot of room for reductions.”
It is also visible that share prices are falling, a trend that reflects the situation across Europe. Countries that have a large share of renewable energy sources are temporarily able to supply energy at very low prices, even negative prices. They certainly lower the average price and this affects the final bill
– she said, adding that “that is why our goal is to increase the share of renewable energy sources.”
Hennig-Kloska said the cost of introducing the shields initially amounted to PLN 33 billion.
Next year we estimate that in the maximum package this would be PLN 5 billion. This shows the path we have taken. Free market offers for small businesses and local governments are already well below frozen rates. This is the right direction
she said.
She noted that “we must of course do everything we can to activate customers in the market, including when choosing a seller.”
However, let us not forget that some recipients will not be active recipients for various social or social reasons and the tariff approved by the Chairman of the Energy Regulation Agency is intended for them.

Money… partially secured
Asked whether prices would be frozen for households before 2025, the head of the Ministry of Environment and Environment said that “the money for this purpose is partially budgeted, so to some extent yes.”
We observe the market situation, which is very dynamic. The extent and form of assistance depend on this
she said.
She stated that “as statistics show, the greatest support among the less wealthy citizens is needed for single-person households, where no one can share the costs of maintaining the apartment among them.”
However, when it comes to the support criterion, the problem in the case of a maximum energy price is that the costs of a system for differentiating and controlling the incomes of several million households would exceed the savings resulting from this separation.
