Marcin Przydacz and Andrzej Śliwka, PiS MPs, commented on the neocommittee’s “mini-report” on Russian influence. According to the opinion of parliamentarians, what is presented by General Jarosław Stróżyk cannot be considered a reliable result of research. Przydacz also pointed out that the report lacked “important” examples of Russian influence in Poland.
On Wednesday, General Stróżyk, chairman of the Commission for Investigation of Russian Influence, presented a report on her activities.
According to former Deputy Foreign Minister Przydacz, this report in no way referred to the ‘key moments’ when Russian influence – according to the MP – would be visible. He gave as examples: the ‘reset’ policy with Russia or the cancellation of more than 1 billion złoty in debts to Gazprom in 2010.
““Shameless act”
Przydacz said at a press conference in the Sejm that this report cannot be treated as a serious work and a reliable result of research. Przydacz called the information provided by General Stróżyk “to the detriment of the Polish state” and “shameless action.”
MP Śliwka referred to one of the elements of the report, which pointed to the destruction of the Polish secret services during the analyzed period, including: delegations of the Internal Security Agency. Śliwka said that although the service had undergone a reorganization, the number of officers within the ABW counterintelligence service increased by 100% during the PiS government in the border area with Russia. He ruled that the reorganization did not involve officers, but only people from the human resources, administration and logistics departments.
Śliwka also raised the issue of the Karkonosze programme; he said the project had not been abandoned because it was still included in the Polish Army’s Technical Modernization Plan. He added that the decision of the then ministry management resulted from the fact that the tankers would not be stationed in Poland, but in the Netherlands.
The document presented on Wednesday is the first report of the committee established in May. The annual report will be published in March next year.
