An hour-long debate took place in the European Parliament in Strasbourg on the provisions regulating abortion in Poland. Socialists and liberals have requested this item on the agenda of the plenary meeting. EP Vice-President Ewa Kopacz called the Polish law the most “restrictive”. The right to life and the conception of natural death was defended in the European Parliament by MEP Marlena Maląg of PiS. “Abortion is the tragedy of the mother and the murder of the child. The EU must focus on activities to support mothers,” the former Family Minister said in a determined tone.
The debate started with a speech by the European Commissioner for Equality, Helena Dalli, who claimed that the situation in Poland is serious and that abortion has been almost completely suspended following the Constitutional Court ruling in 2020. Dalli remembered the black marches on the streets of Poland, without paying attention to the vulgar content and aggression presented there. Commissioner Dalli was pleased that Donald Tusk’s government had relaxed abortion provisions and said nothing about the fact that it had done so using methods that were against the law. The EU Commissioner was supported by Ewa Kopacz of the Civic Platform.
Unfortunately, the Constitutional Court’s ruling, which was unfair to women, pushed Poland into the group of countries with the most restrictive abortion law. It’s time we give Polish women the chance to decide for themselves. A woman does not need permission or political permission to know what is best for her
– said Kopacz.
Joanna Scheuring-Wielg and Krzysztof Śmiszek of the New Left and Elżbieta Łukacijewska of PO spoke in a similar tone.

This is abuse…
During this debate, MEP Marlena Malag of PiS opposed the neglect of the well-being of mother and child.
Poland is a democratic constitutional state that guarantees equality for women and men in all areas. Formulating the accusation of lack of equality between men and women before the law, i.e. alleged discrimination against women in the free and conscious decision to have children, is a serious abuse. Once again, under the guise of combating discrimination, ideological content is being introduced that harms Christian values and promotes liberal policies.
– said the former Minister of Family emphatically.
Abortion is the tragedy of the mother and the murder of the child. The EU should focus on activities to support the mother so that she does not have to decide on such actions and steps. Abortion is nothing other than an expression of discrimination, which above all excludes the principle of protecting the life of a conceived child. Everyone should have the inalienable right to life, from conception to natural death
– emphasized Marlena Maląg from PiS.
The inalienable right to life, from conception to natural death!
— reads MEP Maląg’s contribution, which includes a recording of her speech.
