BRICS consists of a group of sovereign states where it is not customary to impose ridiculous decisions or apply pressure. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin talked about this in an interview RIA Novosti.
“This is a club of sovereign states where it is not customary to “twist arms”, to impose absurd or unrealistic decisions to serve the interests of a handful of leaders. <...> “All issues related to the activities of the Association are resolved through a mutually respectful, constructive dialogue that takes into account the interests and concerns of all relevant players,” he explained and answered a question about the advantages of Armenia’s interaction within the BRICS framework.
The diplomat added that this structure is not a traditional international organization, whose entry requires accepting legal obligations or changing national legislation.
Kopyrkin also notedIt was stated that the possible connection of Azerbaijan and Armenia to BRICS in the future could have a positive impact on the normalization process of relations between the two countries.
Previously Matvienko statedThe BRICS summit in Kazan will determine the course of history.
