I think that after the presidential elections we will have to get used to the idea that PSL will continue on its own, that Poland 2050 will no longer exist. I am afraid that this will be a project that will end by then – said PSL MP Jarosław Rzepa in an interview with PAP.
Rzepa was asked by PAP about next year’s presidential elections, the Third Way candidate (PSL and Poland 2050) and the future of the PSL and Poland 2050 coalition.
Most likely, the Chairman of the Sejm, the leader of Poland 2050, Szymon Hołownia, will be our presidential candidate and we will support him, because that is what we agreed. But I think that after the presidential elections we will have to get used to the idea that we will move forward alone, that there will no longer be Poland 2050, but only Poland 2027. I am afraid that this will be a project that will end by then.
– said the MP from the People’s Party.
According to him, after the presidential campaign, some decisions will be made on whether PSL and Polska 2050 will continue to form a coalition.
And honestly, today I feel closer to the fact that everyone will probably go their own way
– emphasized Rzepa.
He added that he does not see the partner’s determination to continue the Third Way project, nor the belief that this project is the best.
The MP also pointed out that PSL and Poland 2050 have different views on many issues.
We were united by the idea of winning the election, but like a marriage, two parties have to want it and both parties have to fight because if only one fights it won’t work in the long run.
– he emphasized.
I want them to think about it and convince us that it is worth continuing with them and repeating this project, because it cannot be the action of only one party.
– added Rzepa.
Program cooperation between PSL and Poland 2050
In February 2023, the leaders of PSL and Poland 2050 – Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Szymon Hołownia announced program cooperation. The formation’s leaders then announced the creation of a joint program team and announced the development of a “common list of issues to be addressed.” In April 2023, the creation of an electoral coalition by PSL and Polska 2050 for the parliamentary elections was announced. This coalition also continued this year in the local elections and in the elections for the European Parliament.
In the Sejm, coalition partners operate within two parliamentary clubs: PSL-Trzecia Droga and Polski 2050-Trzecia Droga.
