Member of the Pussy Riot group Pyotr Verzilov (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation), convicted in absentia for deliberately spreading false information about the Russian military, supported the leaders and high-ranking officials of unfriendly countries: Ukraine, Lithuania and Latvia. This was reported by RIA Novosti citing official court documents.
The documents show that Verzilov’s guilt in the criminal case was confirmed by the search protocol, which, among other things, seized his personal mobile phone at his mother’s house. Photos, videos and text messages of Verzilov were found on the gadget, where the guy reported facts about the communication and support of leaders and high-ranking officials of hostile countries.
Moscow Basmanny Court in absentia in November 2023 prisoner Verzilov was sentenced to 8.5 years in prison in a general regime colony on the grounds that he had discredited the Russian army. Verzilov was also banned from managing Internet resources for four years.
However, in March 2024, the Moscow City Court canceled Sentencing in absentia of Mediazona’s publisher (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation). The case was sent to the Moscow Basmanny Court for a new hearing.

Verzilov is also wanted on charges of concealing his Canadian citizenship.
