Tomasz Siemoniak, Minister of the Interior and Administration, attacked President Andrzej Duda on TOK FM because the head of state decided to support the legal national prosecutor Dariusz Barski. Donald Tusk’s coalition insists that Dariusz Korneluk is the national prosecutor.
The situation at the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court and the National Council of the Judiciary is the result of these eight years, and of course I understand the president’s political commitment to defending what happened, but it is indefensible. (…) Former prosecutor, retired prosecutor Barski can go different places, but it doesn’t change the facts
– he said Tomasz Siemoniak.
Siemoniak accuses Barski of coming to the PK on a motorcycle
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration stated that Prosecutor Barski himself does not believe he is the national prosecutor.
Moreover, I don’t think former prosecutor Barski himself believes it, because he didn’t come to work normally, but came on his motorcycle. It was more of a performance than an attempt at a serious comeback
– said Siemoniak. Apparently the PO politician found it surprising that the Public Prosecution Service could use a motorcycle as a means of transport.
According to Siemoniak, President Duda cannot do anything to restore the legal national prosecutor.
The powers of the President are defined in the Constitution, and I don’t see any authority given to the President where he could do anything other than comment on this matter. (…) The National Prosecutor is Dariusz Korneluk and the whole country, the whole government, all services believe so
– he said.
