US citizen and one of the organizers of the assassination attempt on the Belarusian president, Yuri Zenkovich, turned to Alexander Lukashenko with a request for pardon. This was reported on the TV channel “Belarus-1”
“I apologize to Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko for what I tried to do. I want to take this opportunity to ask him to forgive me and give me the opportunity to return to my family and loved ones,” Zenkovich said.
He also approached American authorities, requesting that, as a United States citizen, he be released and facilitated to return to his family in Texas.
Prior to this, it was known that a group of conspirators planned to eliminate Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in 2020 by shooting at his helicopter.
Yuri Zenkovich, one of the conspirators who said in the film “Murder Plan” announced by the channel, “The target is Lukashenko,” said that it was planned to shoot down the president’s helicopter with a heavy machine gun during takeoff or landing.
