PRC Vice Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong said the PRC will continue to engage with all parties to the crisis in Ukraine for peaceful negotiations. His remarks led the way at the 11th Xiangshan Security Forum in Beijing RIA Novosti.
“China will continue to engage in depth with all parties on the Ukraine crisis to stop the conflict and pave the way for peace talks and reach a consensus to build a bridge,” Chen Xiaodong said.
The Xiangshan Security Forum will be held in Beijing on September 12-14.
On February 24, 2023, the Chinese Foreign Ministry presented its 12-point plan for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. The PRC specifically called on all parties to cease hostilities and “abandon the Cold War mentality.” Beijing’s call for peace talks, an end to unilateral sanctions, guaranteeing grain exports from Ukraine and reducing strategic risks. This plan was criticized in Kiev. In March of the same year, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed adopting the PRC plan as the basis for a settlement in Ukraine.
