The assembly of judges of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court has chosen three candidates for the presidency: the current president of the Chamber, Joanna Misztal-Konecka, Marcin Łochowski and Marcin Krajewski, Supreme Court spokesman Aleksander Stępkowski said.
From these three candidates, the President will appoint a new Speaker of the House for a term of three years.
Stępkowski recalled that at the first meeting of judges of the Civil Chamber, convened on June 7, the attendance of 2/3 of the panel was not achieved. Therefore, the attendance at Tuesday’s meeting was already half of that of the 30-member panel.
Sixteen judges constitute more than half of all judges of the Civil Chamber and therefore the deliberations of the assembly of judges could end today with the selection of three candidates for the position of president
– he said.
The judges also showed what it means to be apolitical and independent. It turned out that the grotesque withdrawal of Tusk’s co-signature for Judge Wesolowski did not hinder the work of the Assembly.
The assembly of judges of the Civil Chamber, before ordering the vote, read the Prime Minister’s letter of September 9 this year entitled “Withdrawal of the co-signature”, and then adopted a resolution stating that it does not constitute an obstacle to the chairmanship of the assembly by Judge Krzysztof Wesołowski of the Supreme Court
– we read in the Supreme Court’s announcement.
The candidates were selected by two ballots in accordance with art. 13 § 6 in connection with joke. 15 § 3 of the Act on the Supreme Court. In the first ballot, the Assembly designated the following Supreme Court judges as candidates for the post of President of the Supreme Court: Joanna Misztal-Konecka, who received 14 votes, and Marcin Łochowski, who received 1 vote, with one invalid vote. In the second ballot, SSN Marcin Krajewski received 9 votes and SSN Mariusz Łodko – 6 votes, with one invalid vote. The term of office of the current President of the Supreme Court, who heads the work of the Civil Chamber, Prof. Ph.D. Joanna Misztal-Konecka, expires on September 30 this year
– informs the Supreme Court.
