Justice Minister, Prosecutor General Adam Bodnar, wrote on the X platform that, according to the National Electoral Commission, one of the main reasons for rejecting the PiS financial report was a commercial promoting the tightening of penalties with the participation of former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, which was financed with public money.
Openness and transparency in the financing of election campaigns are the foundation of a democratic constitutional state. Today’s decision by the National Electoral Commission confirms that these standards have returned
– said Bodnar.
In June, Bodnar asked the National Electoral Commission to investigate the issue of expenditure from the Justice Fund, and in early August he filed a notification with the Commission about the September 2023 video, which featured then-Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro. . Bodnar presented the scene as an example of financing an election campaign from the ministry’s funds. In the clip, Ziobro announced tougher sentences for the most serious crimes. In the recording, Ziobro stressed that Poland had become one of the safest countries in Europe.
Concern about norms? Or perhaps pure political agitation? The conclusions are clear.
