“There is no monetary policy strategy. We paid a certain price of the economic slowdown for reducing inflation, and now, as if nothing had happened, the government’s decisions are bringing us back into an inflationary spiral,” Zbigniew Kuźmiuk, a lawmaker from Law and Justice, said on Telewizja. wPoland.
In an interview with Aleksandra Jakubowska, Kuźmiuk referred to the decision of the Ministry of National Education to liquidate the laptop distribution program for Polish students, which is allegedly too expensive and which, according to those in power, should have been declared by the European Union. Union.
According to information from the government about the money of the KPO, it should be spent first on climate policy and second on digitalization. The laptop program for students fits perfectly into the second priority of the Polish KPO, so I don’t think there will be any problems here
– he said.
In addition, we hear from this government that Poland will most likely not use part of the funds that were finally made available to Poland in tranches. I would like to remind you that the funds from this program must be used by the end of 2026 and finally settled. Unfortunately, due to the political blockade of the current government in the European institutions, these funds were made available to our country with a quid pro quo. delay of more than two years, so now a large part of the money will most likely not be available
– he added.

According to him, the government’s story about pressure from the European Union is a clever trick.
This kind of explanation, that the EU is imposing some conditions here in a situation where laptops are a digitalisation tool and should be provided to young people, is in my opinion not related to the EU’s expectations
– said Zbigniew Kuźmiuk.
Aleksandra Jakubowska noted in a conversation with the guest that funds of the KPO were blocked during the PiS government due to alleged violations of the rule of law. If we look at what is happening in Poland today under the government of Donald Tusk, one can easily get the impression that this whole issue had strictly political motives from the beginning.
State budget in danger?
The presenter, Aleksandra Jakubowska, also asked MP Kuźmiuk where the government of Donald Tusk loses money, because we keep hearing that the state has no money and that the state of the budget is more than problematic.
This is a consequence of the fact that the government is planning a budget deficit of PLN 184 billion for this year. In addition, the maintenance of budget revenues is not very good. They are, of course, higher than last year, but that is clear, because I would like to remind you that as a result of the economic slowdown, which was a consequence of the fight against high inflation, we had a slowdown last year
– noted Zbigniew Kuźmiuk.
The first half of last year was indeed not the best, but despite this, revenues are clearly growing. This year we have an economic recovery, as Prime Minister Donald Tusk himself admitted, but this is not reflected in the state budget, especially when it comes to VAT revenues. (…) Suffice it to say that at the end of the year there will most likely be a VAT deficit of around PLN 30 billion. If we fully realize the budget deficit and add to it the unrealized revenues, we simply have a budget disaster
– he judged.
There is no monetary policy strategy. We have paid a certain price of economic slowdown for reducing inflation, and now, as if nothing has happened, the government’s decisions are taking us back into an inflationary spiral. Inflation 4.2 percent in July is this not the last word
– he added.
The financial policy of the state
The PiS politician also commented on the open war declared by the head of government against the president of the National Bank of Poland. He assessed it unequivocally as bad, especially in the context of the unstable economic and geopolitical situation.
I am surprised that in such a difficult situation, when there is a war going on behind our eastern border, when we have barely emerged from the Covid crisis, this coalition has decided to wage war on the president of the NBP. Argument included in the application [o TS dla prezesa Glapińskiego – przyp. red.] is bordering on ridiculous. 191 MPs signed the complaint, which is comparable to a situation in which a baker is accused of baking bread, a mason of building houses and a shoemaker of repairing shoes.
– said Kuźmiuk.
In my opinion, if the Prime Minister is talking about the war, at least the Minister of Finance should be concerned about harmonious cooperation, but unfortunately he also signed this motion
– concluded the opposition MP.
