“Grandma’s”, that is, a program that was supposed to provide financial support, among other things, to parents who are professionally active and pay for their child’s stay in a daycare center, will come into force on October 1, 2024. When Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the “Active Parent” program in April this year, he did not mention that some beneficiaries will have to pay more than before for the child’s stay in the nursery.
Higher rates for… public daycare?

Higher reimbursements for caring for a young child in an institution designated for this purpose are not the only benefit of the “grandmother program” that Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced with much fanfare.
Parents who pay more for childcare than the threshold set for a given year are not entitled to the benefit at all. In 2025, the maximum compensation for a daycare center will be PLN 2,200.
While the regulations were intended to curb the willingness of daycare owners to raise tuition, they will apparently also affect some parents.
And above all, the problem of “overpriced institutions” concerns parents who send their children to private institutions, because MP Głosernaker writes about public nurseries, and this is a disturbing issue.
