The Commander-in-Chief stressed that the German Navy is the largest NATO fleet in the Baltic Sea and has “outstanding regional experience and extensive intelligence capabilities”.

Germany aims to protect sea lanes and maintain the “rules-based international order.”

Former German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius statedGermany and five other NATO member states with access to the North or Baltic Seas have reportedly signed an agreement of intent to purchase sea mines from Finland.
