Lukashenko discusses resignation from presidency

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is gradually preparing the country’s residents to leave the post of head of state. This was discussed in an interview for the “News of the Week” program broadcast on the TV channel. “Russia 1”The Belarusian leader himself said so.

He noted that he has been president for 30 years. According to Lukashenko, only a few politicians have managed to rule their country for that long.

“People are used to it: here he is, there is no one else. This is wrong. I am preparing people for this (leaving the post of head of state – socialbites.ca),” the Belarusian leader said.

The President added that he did not want any disappointment or failure to accompany the change of power in the country.

On April 24, 2024, Lukashenko attended a meeting of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly (VNA). During the event, he statedhe said he would resign from the presidency when the people told him to do so. At the same time, the politician described the presence of a reliable successor nearby as another condition for leaving the presidency.
