Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder of the ruling Georgian Dream parliamentary party, refused to meet with US senators. This was reported by RT.
According to Kobakhidze, Ivanishvili personally explained the reasons for the refusal to his American partners, but did not explain them.
Before that, Kobakhidze said that Georgia had made an offer to the United States to resume relations, and that this was equally in the interests of both countries.
According to him, many things have “gone wrong” in relations between Tbilisi and Washington over the past three or four years, and therefore a reset is needed.
Kobakhidze described as counterproductive the remarks of Republican Congressman Thomas Kean, who compared Georgian Dream’s policy towards the opposition to “a dictatorship not typical of the US’s close partners.”
The Georgian Prime Minister noted that for the reset, first of all, there should be fair relations between Tbilisi and Washington. According to him, Georgia will take all possible steps for this, the main thing is to see the steps taken by the US government.
Previously in Georgia supplied Assassination attempt on Ivanishvili.
