The decision to accept Venezuela into BRICS could be taken at the union summit in Kazan in October 2024. In a conversation about this, RIA Novosti said Venezuela’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Joaquin Perez.
“As for the timing (of the state’s entry into the BRICS – editor’s note), I hope that the decision will be officially announced in a positive way in Kazan at the next summit,” he emphasized.
According to Perez, if the BRICS fail to make a suitable decision, Caracas will remain “an active player in this new world.”
The XIV BRICS Summit will be held in Kazan on 22-24 October.
Before this Perez reportedHe said Caracas would be an “excellent addition” to BRICS, including its oil reserves.
According to him, Venezuelan authorities believe that a new world order has already been formed and the state in northern South America wants to contribute to its strengthening.
