“Successive ministers discover new facts almost every day. They follow the same pattern: government money was allocated and directed to those positions for which the minister or deputy minister was a candidate,” Maciej Berek, head of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers, argued about neo-TVP, referring to the issue of the National Electoral Commission and the Law and Justice report.
The head of the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers alleged that PiS politicians used state money as part of the promotion of the Family 800+ programme to promote themselves during the parliamentary elections.
Successive ministers discover new facts almost daily. They follow the same pattern: public money was earmarked and addressed to those positions for which the minister or vice-minister was a candidate. This was collected in the months preceding the elections and during the election campaign. It was clear. (…) This is the question of the citizens: which rules apply?
– he said.
When reminded of Ryszard Kalisz’s words that “the government failed” to provide the National Electoral Commission with the correct documents, he replied:
I have publicly argued with Mr Kalisz about this. There is no provision that the government must provide the National Electoral Commission itself, or guess what the National Electoral Commission expects. (…) I assume that if the National Electoral Commission knows that it will be dealing with reports after the elections, it must also know what it needs for that. (…) It turned out that dozens of letters had been sent. When the National Electoral Commission later asked specific questions, it received specific answers.
Berek returned to attacking PiS and criticizing the National Electoral Commission’s accusations against the government.
We were all active in the same country. We saw these picnics where they were not election picnics, but simply calls for votes. I would like to believe that the state authority responsible for handling this is aware of something like this and that this authority is preparing to ask a question
– he said.
Attack on PiS
Maciej Berek further argued that PiS had created a pattern of using state money for the election campaign.
It was a pattern of using public money to promote itself. (…) I would very much like to believe that a state authority that is called upon to do something is prepared to deal with it and not shift the responsibility to someone else.
– he said.
The nervousness of the party involved does not surprise me. PiS MPs appeared yesterday at the Prime Minister’s Office. (…) I am not surprised by this nervousness. I know only part of what is the subject of the prosecutor’s proceedings, and I think that once they become known to the public, no one will doubt that the moment when the state is treated as an entity from which money can be extracted in an unlimited way, using officials, using structures, only for their own individual benefit is over
– added.
The head of the KSRM also attacked the Constitutional Tribunal, claiming that it was not in accordance with the constitution.
Today we don’t have a Constitutional Tribunal that is in accordance with the Constitution, so we remain in this big, gigantic, dramatic mess that was designed by our predecessors.
– he said.
Donald Tusk’s camp will do everything it can to destroy its biggest rival – Law and Justice. Hence the expectation that the National Electoral Commission will make a decision that is favorable to the current prime minister.
