Iran is actively preparing for the upcoming attack on Israel, an American newspaper reported Wall Street Journal (WSJ) cited American officials.
“US officials said they noticed over the weekend that Iran was moving missile launchers and conducting military exercises, which could mean Tehran is preparing for an attack in the coming days,” the article said.
As the WSJ notes, U.S. administration officials are concerned that the Iranian offensive could be accompanied by attacks by Hezbollah and other proxies in Tehran aimed at overpowering Israeli defenses.
The newspapers said the possibility of a new conflict in the region could derail President Joe Biden’s already flagging push for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which has become the centre of his Middle East diplomacy and foreign policy legacy.
Senior U.S. officials have urged Tehran not to escalate the conflict, and Iran has sought Arab support while threatening states that contribute to Israel’s defense.
