Information that the term of office of Brig. Gen. Artur Jakubczyk will be shortened, reported “Rzeczpospolita”, also noting that he is one of eight Polish generals currently in NATO structures.
The reason is said to have been irregularities in the race for the head of the intelligence policy division of the Joint Intelligence and Security Division at NATO headquarters, where General Jakubczyk reportedly preferred a candidate from Poland.
An additional accusation was the fact that the general’s behavior was described as “homophobic” and “racist”.
Statement by General Jakubczyk
General Artur Jakubczyk responded to the whole situation in a special statement, stating that he learned about the accusations against him during his leave, where he had difficulty accessing information.
He also described the allegations as frivolous.
During my family vacation outside Poland, while I have limited access to information and therefore cannot comment on the public accusations against me, I learned that the procedure for dismissing me from my current position in NATO is underway. The accusations are bizarre and frivolous. I am a soldier with many years of experience. While serving in international structures, including three combat missions (Iraq, Afghanistan), I was decorated many times for my work for the security of both our homeland and international security.
– He wrote.
He also said that he had not received any documentation that would prove the decision of the head of the Ministry of National Defense regarding his dismissal.
I would like to add that I have not been given access to the documentation that allegedly formed the basis for the decision of the Minister of Defence to dismiss me from my current position, a decision that was taken without my knowledge and which I learned about from the media, mainly social media (Twitter of the Ministry of National Defence). No one has contacted me about this
– he said.
According to General Jakubczyk, his direct superiors were also surprised by WÅ‚adysÅ‚aw Kosiniak-Kamysz’s decision.
As far as I know, my direct superiors at NATO’s Joint Intelligence and Security Department (JISD) are also surprised by the decision of the Polish Minister of National Defence
– he revealed.
In my opinion the accusations against me are very frivolous and damaging to my good name. I do not know why people try to develop a scandal around me and destroy me as a soldier and as a person
– added the general.
If it is true that General Artur Jakubczyk learned about the whole affair through social media, this will be the worst testimony to the current leadership of the Ministry of Defense.
