Kremlin explains why lump sum payment to contract workers increased

Kremlin official Dmitry Peskov explained during a briefing why Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to more than double the lump sum payment to new contract soldiers.

When asked by a journalist whether this was due to a change of duty in the special military operations zone, Peskov answered negatively.

“No, this is not connected with the change of duty in the Northern Military District – socialbites.ca. This is due to the ongoing steps and measures to support the SVO participants and their families,” Peskov said.

Before that, Russian President Putin signed Decree on the appointment of one-time payments to military personnel who have concluded contracts with the Ministry of Defense of Russia from August 1 to December 31.

The payment will be made to military personnel who have signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense for a period of one year or longer, who have been called up for mobilization or are serving in the Russian Armed Forces between August 1 and December 31, 2024.
