The State Duma adopted a law on the development of creative industries in Russia. The document passed the second and third readings, reports TASS.

The law defines “creative industry” as “economic activity directly related to the creation, distribution and sale of creative products that are unique and have economic value.”

Types of creative industries were identified.

The first is activities related to the use of historical and cultural heritage (folk arts, gallery activities, etc.).

The second is the creation and use of works of literature and art, from performances to musical and photographic works.

The third is the use of information and telecommunication technologies (software development, creation of computer games, advertising, publishing, media).

Finally, the creative industry includes applied creativity (creation and production of clothing, accessories, arts and crafts and performing arts, as well as design, architecture and gastronomy).

The law provides for the creation of a unified register of subjects of creative industries, the procedure for creating which will be determined by the government.

On July 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved List of instructions following the results of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Among other things, the President recommended that the State Duma ensure the adoption of the federal law “On the development of creative industries in the Russian Federation.”
