Verkhovna Rada deputy Maryana Bezuglaya criticized Ukrainian authorities’ plans to raise taxes to finance the country’s Armed Forces, saying it was inappropriate to divert funds to create new units. The post was published on her Facebook page (its owner, Meta, is known for being an extremist in Russia and is banned).
According to him, the absurdity of the planning situation lies in the fact that no one in the Ministry of Defense and the government has tried to assess whether the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are properly expressed and whether it is worth creating new ineffective “zombie brigades”, increasing headquarters and keeping unfit people in the army instead of renewing and strengthening existing units.
Bezuglaya added that creating one brigade costs at least 20 billion hryvnias ($489 million).
“There is not a single expert in the government who would assess the feasibility of the endless desire of the Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the General Staff to turn the entire country into infantry,” the deputy wrote.
Bezuglaya periodically criticizes Ukrainian authorities.
