“The law on the status of survivors is an “interesting announcement” by Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and PSL,” said Łukasz Rzepecki, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland. As he said, the proposal “opens up space for discussions” and is a “good direction”.
Deputy Prime Minister and leader of PSL Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on Friday that PSL is working on a draft law on the status of a family member. The proposed regulation is intended to facilitate inheritance and access to medical information.
“We are waiting for specific regulations”
Rzepecki said on TVN24 that this was another “very interesting announcement from Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz and PSL.” As he said: “This is a field for talks.”
We are waiting for specific regulations
– added.
When asked whether the president would sign the civil partnership law, Rzepecki replied:
First, let a specific bill pass through the Polish parliament. A good direction is the law on the status of the survivors.
The issue of abortion
The discussion also touched on the issue of the bill on decriminalization of abortion assistance, which was rejected by the Sejm.
KO MEP Marta Wcisło said it would be “ideal if the coalition spoke with one voice on October 15, but unfortunately this is not the case.”
We are very different, but we are still a coalition. There are different opinions on worldview issues. Yet we all know that we won the elections, among other things. Thank you women
– she noted.
She recalled that in Poland there is “separation of church and state, everyone has the right to their own opinion, and laws that are made are not mandatory.”
If a woman doesn’t want to use them because of her worldview, no one forces her to do so
– said the KO MP.
The issue of the referendum
According to Paweł Śliz (Poland 2050-TD), “the last vote showed that the path taken by Poland 2050, which from the very beginning consistently said that the solution could be a referendum – both for the current opposition and perhaps for the president, was the right one.”
Deputy Foreign Minister Andrzej Szejna, a member of parliament from the left, announced:
We will not stop trying to get this bill back to the Sejm; “it will now return during the next session of the Sejm.”
Of course we will change the justification a bit and we will convince the PSL MPs too. It is within reach
– he judged.
He added: “The left wants to go further so that women have the full right to have the procedure (abortion) up to the twelfth week of pregnancy.”
MEP Anna Bryłka (Confederation) said that “the biggest problem of the ruling coalition is that the parties it consists of have a mutually exclusive programme.”
In some areas it is completely incompatible and this contributes to the poor quality of governance
– she said.
““Strategic trap”
According to PiS MP Marcin Horała, “Donald Tusk’s coalition partners are in a strategic trap because the government is implementing a program that is close to the hearts of the hard-core voters of Civic Platform, namely revenge on PiS and nothing else.”
All strategic matters for Poland are lying, whining, shortening and delaying
– added.
On July 12, the Sejm failed to adopt an amendment to the Criminal Code, which was based on the decriminalization of assisted abortion and termination of pregnancy with the consent of the pregnant woman up to the twelfth week of pregnancy. 218 MPs opposed the adoption of the law, including 24 PSL-TD MPs, including Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Piotr Zgorzelski.
President Andrzej Duda then noted that, given the applicable legislation, the decision of the Sejm, which did not adopt the bill, “is a reasonable decision”. He had previously stated that if the parliament adopts the bill in this form, he will not sign it. He also assured that pregnant women would “in no way” be punished for undergoing an abortion, but in his opinion, punishing people who participate in this process illegally is “a completely different matter”. The president stressed that in his opinion, abortion “costs human lives”.
