Democrats plan to virtually nominate a candidate for the US presidential election in a vote from July 29 to August 5, which will make the next party convention a formality. The portal reports Axiosby quoting sources.
“We look forward to Joe Biden being nominated via virtual voting and having a big celebration in Chicago in August with 99% of the delegates who supported the Biden-Harris nomination,” Democratic National Committee Chairman Jamie Harrison was quoted as saying by the portal.
By established tradition, a preliminary vote on a candidate before the party convention results in his or her formal nomination, so the Biden team wants to fast-track his eventual nomination to thwart efforts by those advocating for another candidate to replace him.
