“I think it’s time to be realistic about the aid we’ve given to Ukraine. We’ve delivered about half of what we promised, and that’s not enough,” he said.
If alliance members want Ukraine to win, they need to help it more, Iohannis said.
The Romanian president explained that when he spoke of aid he meant not only money, but also promises to provide ammunition and artillery. He stressed that not even half of it had been provided and that the same was true in many other areas.
According to him, it is not yet possible to talk about the timing of Ukraine’s admission to NATO, as not all allies are convinced that this should be “very urgent.”
He also said Romania and Ukraine would sign a security agreement on July 11.
