“The multi-week conflict over the election of the Marshal of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, which was initially of little interest to the media, over time became the subject of numerous, often sensational reports and commentaries,” PiS MP Ryszard Terlecki wrote on Facebook.
The politician’s post contains many bitter words.
Let us not forget that PiS won 21 seats in the regional assembly, and PO and Trzecia Droga won 18. According to some media, on December 13, the coalition had a chance to take power in Małopolska, of course, thanks to betrayals within PiS, but in the end Platform could not reach an agreement with PSL, so it lost the chance. Meanwhile, something else attracted the attention of commentators. A group of several PiS councilors decided not to follow the recommendations of the party authorities (including the PiS president and the Political Committee) and not to elect MP Łukasz Kmita as marshal of the voivodeship, but to divide the positions in the assembly among themselves. . One of the leaders of this operation was the former marshal, who, in my opinion, was generally considered a pest, but was capable of any intrigue. He was so attached to his seat that he did not take into account the party’s decisions, nor the opinions of twenty PiS MPs and senators from Małopolska who supported Kmita, nor the majority of local assembly councillors elected in April.
– Terlecki emphasizes.
Mistake about the personalities
The politician draws attention to what he sees as an incorrect inclusion of some people on the PiS electoral lists.
The group ready to betray also included in various compositions one of the former deputy marshals and a former voivode, who was dismissed a few years ago by Prime Minister Morawiecki, now a presidential minister. It was a clear mistake to put them on the election lists of the Law and Justice party. They began to arrange positions for themselves in the assembly, for which all three were suspended as party members. Will they cheat again on the next occasion?
– we read in Terlecki’s submission.
There is no point in pretending that nothing has happened. The blackmail proved effective. In order to avoid new local government elections or, worse, to not expose Małopolska to a coalition of PO and PSL coming to power, it was necessary to resign. Łukasz Kmita proposed Łukasz Smółka as a candidate for marshal. Unfortunately, in the new leadership, the current marshal negotiated the seat of the vice-marshal for himself. This does not bode well for the functioning of the assembly, and in addition, the PiS voters who voted for the splitters in April were deceived. Now they need to be convinced that such a mistake will not be made next time when compiling the electoral lists
– the parliamentarian emphasizes.
