The Belarusian armed forces are ready to respond harshly to possible provocations by Ukrainian troops on the border between the two countries, the country’s President Alexander Lukashenko stated at a solemn meeting on the occasion of the republic’s Independence Day. DEA News.
The head of state addressed Ukrainian authorities, urging them not to “play with fire”. As he said, such “pampering” of Kiev could have dangerous consequences.
“In no case should we allow events to escalate or worsen. I want the Ukrainian leadership to hear this,” Lukashenko stressed.
At the same time, he said, Minsk decided to bring its troops and air defense forces to a high state of combat readiness. This was due to the fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were put into operation on the border, so the Belarusian side brought the Iskander and Polonez complexes into position.
According to the President, Ukraine began to escalate the situation on the Belarusian border due to the arrival of the Russian contingent in the republic. We are talking about representatives of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation who arrived in Belarus to participate in the parade on July 3.
Lukashenko said the country’s military had seized dozens of intelligence assets belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the past few days, but he assured citizens that Minsk would not allow any conflict on the Belarus-Ukraine border.
