The accusation of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) against Russia that Ukraine violated some articles of the convention in its claim to Crimea is legally invalid; Russia will not comply. In this respect RIA News said the director of the department for multilateral cooperation on human rights at the Russian Foreign Ministry Grigory Lukyantsev.
“Of course we will not accept it. We have a federal law that says which decisions we recognize and which we do not,” Lukyantsev said on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Law Forum in St. Petersburg.
The Russian diplomat reminded that Russia withdrew from the ECHR in 2022 and does not have to comply with or implement its decisions.
Before that the European Court of Human Rights accepted Russia is found guilty of violating some articles of the case filed by Ukraine regarding Crimea.
The document listed more than ten articles that the Russian side allegedly violated. These include: 6 (right to a fair trial), 8 (right to respect for private and family life), 10 (freedom of expression) and others.
