Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia announced that at the session of the Sejm starting tomorrow, a motion to lift the immunity of PiS MP Michał Wosio will be voted on, and at the next meeting a motion to lift immunity and the capture and temporary imprisonment of arrestee Marcin Romanowski (PiS). It turns out that the Sejm has also received a request to lift the immunity of another PiS politician: Mariusz Błaszczak, former head of the Ministry of National Defense and currently chairman of the parliamentary club of the largest opposition party.
The National Prosecution’s request for permission to hold the politician of Sovereign Poland, PiS MP Michał Woś, criminally liable was submitted to the Sejm at the end of May. It is related to the investigation by the National Public Prosecutor’s Office into the expenditure of money for the purchase of Pegasus-like software from the Justice Fund, as well as the expenditure of public funds for the purchase of a license to use the Pegasus system. The application will be considered by the House Rules Committee on Wednesday.
Hołownia told journalists on Tuesday that the motion to lift Wosi’s immunity will be voted on during the Sejm session starting on Wednesday.
At the next meeting – the Marshal said – the Attorney General’s request for permission to hold PiS MP and politician of Sovereign Poland Marcin Romanowski criminally liable, as well as his detention and temporary arrest, will be considered.
Hołownia added that he submitted this request to the regulations committee on Tuesday.
Even if the committee manages to deal with it quickly, the deadline – I have shortened it – for Romanowski to get acquainted with the application will not pass. Therefore, it will be voted on during the next Sejm
– declared the marshal.
Research into the Justice Fund
GUT spokeswoman Anna Adamiak announced last week that the request to waive Romanowski’s immunity and agree to his detention concerns the Justice Fund investigation. As she said: “the evidence collected in the case in the form of personal sources of evidence, documentation related to procedures for granting Justice Fund grants, analysis of secure documents and electronic information media indicates a sufficiently justified suspicion that MP Marcin Romanowski eleven committed crimes. .”
These crimes consisted – said Prosecutor Adamiak – of participating in an organized group aimed at committing crimes against property, and in particular by exceeding powers and failing to fulfill obligations, as well as certifying falsehoods in documents, causing widespread damage to property. of the Ministry of Finance, to achieve personal and wealth benefits.
Marcin Romanowski was Deputy Minister of Justice in 2019-2023; from 2018 he was also a proxy of the then head of the Ministry of Justice, Zbigniew Ziobro, for the Justice Fund.
They also want to take away Błaszczak’s immunity
In May, the representative of the private prosecutor submitted a request to the Sejm to lift the parliamentary immunity of the head of the PiS club, Mariusz Błaszczak; On June 18, the application was submitted to the Rules, Substitutions and Immunities Committee. Katarzyna Karpa-Świderek, spokeswoman for the Sejm chairman, told PAP.
The request for waiver of Mariusz Błaszczak’s immunity was submitted to the Sejm by the representative of the private prosecutor in May. On June 18, it was referred to the Rules, Substitutions and Immunities Committee
– Karpa-Świderek told PAP on Tuesday.
She added that the request for the waiver of the immunity of the president of the PiS club was submitted by the representative of the former operational commander of the Armed Forces, General Tomasz Piotrowski. The applicant refers to art. 212 of the Criminal Code regarding “public insult”.
The issue was previously reported by Wirtualna Polska. As highlighted, the application contains arguments that the former head of the Ministry of National Defense “defamed the commander for conduct that exposed him to the loss of trust necessary for his position as operational commander of the armed forces” and that the statements of Błaszczak “in public opinion humiliating for him.”
It concerns the minister’s public criticism of the then operational commander of the armed forces, General Tomasz Piotrowski. The case concerns a Russian missile that fell into a forest near Bydgoszcz in December 2022 and was accidentally discovered just a few months later. Mariusz Błaszczak then accused the general of not informing him in December that a Russian missile had invaded Polish airspace
– emphasizes WP.
Kurzajewski: The general couldn’t handle it
Mateusz Kurzajewski from the PiS parliamentary club commented on these reports.
General Piotrowski failed in his position and is now trying to relieve his frustration. He decided to file a private complaint because he knows there are no grounds to accuse Mariusz Błaszczak. The whole truth about the incident is contained in the Supreme Court report, which must be made public
— Kurzajewski wrote on the X platform.
At the end of April 2023, the Ministry of National Defense announced that the remains of an unknown military facility had been found near Zamość, about 15 km from Bydgoszcz. A random person came across him in the woods. It was then emphasized that the situation did not pose a threat to the safety of residents. The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk has opened an investigation into this case.
On May 11, 2023, the then head of the Ministry of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak, stated that “the procedures and response mechanisms related to the object found near Bydgoszcz were working properly up to the level of the operational commander.” He accused the operational commander of the armed forces, General Tomasz Piotrowski, of not informing him or the relevant services about the missile that entered Polish airspace.
In October 2023, just before the parliamentary elections, the Chief of the General Staff, General Rajmund Andrzejczak, and the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces, General Tomasz Piotrowski, ended their working relationship. The President subsequently appointed Lieutenant General Wiesław Kukuła as Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, and Major General Maciej Klisz as Operational Commander of the Armed Forces.
