Robert Telus commented on Polish television about the scandalous decision of the Forestry Commission regarding the breeding of the Polish Konik. “Since the government changed in Poland, people started looking for an excuse to reject this lease. Several inspections found nothing, no shortcomings,” said the PiS MP and former head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
In a conversation with Żaklina Skowrońska and Bartosz Łyżwiński, the former Minister of Agriculture referred to the scandalous issue of terminating his lease on land for horse breeding, which will require Robert Telus to find a new place or a buyer for it within three years. months.
I have been breeding the Polish Konik since 1999. I have been managing it legally for almost ten years on land leased from the state forests, I pay the highest rent in the Łódź Voivodeship and I say this not to complain, but to demonstrate that this everything is done legally. I run a conservation herd, that is, the reconstruction of the Polish Konik breed. This herd is under the supervision of the Association of Horse Breeders, but also of the Institute in Balice, because in order to rebuild our Polish horse breed, it must be under the care of this Institute.
– he said.
Looking for an excuse
According to the PiS MP, such radical and quick steps to terminate the breeding lease are due to the fact that the current ruling team is looking for an excuse to harm him.
Since the government changed in Poland, they started looking for an excuse to reject my lease. During several inspections, nothing was found, no irregularities. I know the media reported that there were many deficiencies associated with this contract, but there were none, but the Forestry Commission terminated it anyway and I received a letter regarding this matter.
– he said.
Robert Telus also admitted that the decision of Staatsbosbeheer also affected his daughter, who is co-owner of the Konik Polski breeding farm.
Another situation is that the rental contract is also in my daughter’s name and she has also received a notice of termination of the contract. My daughter said more than once: ‘Dad, it’s because of you, because you are an MP. Without you, I could still be running this farm.”
– the PiS politician admitted bitterly.
The political chutzpah of the current government
According to him, it is impossible to find a potential buyer for such a large herd of horses within three months, and its liquidation can only mean one thing: sending the animals to slaughter, which he is strongly against.
However, there is a much more important issue at play. There are a total of eighty horses at the stud for me and my daughter. I was given three months to eliminate this herd. What does eliminating the herd mean? Selling eighty horses in three months is impossible. Does this mean they are proposing to kill these horses?
– he said.
I have been breeding Polish Konik for decades and have never sold him for slaughter. Nowadays, the decision of the Forestry Commission forces me to take such actions. I can’t imagine it, but I certainly never will! I am passionate, apart from my family, wife and homeland, this is my next love
– added the MP.
Telus also has no doubts about who is behind this scandalous decision.
Of course, the Ministry of Climate, the current government and Staatsbosbeheer carry this out in such a terrible way. But don’t let them think about it! Even if they put me in jail, I will defend it, because I am passionate about Konik Polski!
Telus insured.
The liquidation of this stud farm is a scandal and a major political stunt by this government
– he noted.
