Employees of the administration of US President Joe Biden believe that the views of the leader of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on the role of his state in the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine have changed, and in the future the PRC will more actively support Russia. An American newspaper reports this New York Times (NYT).
The White House administration believes that Beijing is trying to deter other states from attending the upcoming summit on Ukraine in Switzerland. China refused to attend the event without Russia. The article says that the leaders of the G7 countries called China an assistant of the “Russian military machine” and a persistent economic player.
“It is becoming clear that Xi’s goal is to dominate China, from trade to influence on security issues around the world,” a US presidential administration official said.
Before this, China’s Washington Embassy press secretary Liu Pengyu, commenting on Biden’s statements that Beijing helped Moscow in organizing a military operation in Ukraine, said that China: does not supply Weapons and dual-use goods are being distributed to parties to the conflict in Ukraine.
Previously Biden accused China is interfering in American elections.
