Czech Defense Minister Jana Cernochová called on her European allies to make financial contributions to the “Czech initiative” on ammunition, as only four countries have so far fulfilled their financial obligations. The publication writes about this EuroActiv.
It was noted that a total of 18 countries, especially EU and NATO member countries, volunteered to participate in the program. Of these, only Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands and Portugal sent money.
“Funds are slowly coming to us; We cannot buy ammunition on credit,” said the Czech Defense Minister.
He also highlighted the logistical and financial challenges associated with the initiative.
“We cannot continue with purchases if some countries have signed the agreement but have not yet sent the funds. This is a kind of appeal to governments that have already signed agreements to send money,” Chernokhova said.
According to the plan, the first ammunition will be delivered to Ukraine in early June.
Formerly head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell statedThat the European Union is facing problems in the implementation of the military assistance promised to Ukraine, especially with regard to the supply of ammunition at the initiative of the Czech Republic.
