Romanowski on Mraz’s tapes: I cannot confirm their authenticity. There was no violation of the law regarding the use of SF funds

There was no violation of the law regarding the use of Justice Fund funds, said Marcin Romanowski, a member of parliament from Sovereign Poland. He also stressed that he could not confirm the authenticity of the recordings published by the media about the management of the Fund’s money.

Last week, the former director of the Ministry of Justice responsible for the Justice Fund, Tomasz Mraz, stated at a meeting of the PiS parliamentary settlement team that most of the competitions held under the SF were held “in an unreliable manner” and the main decision maker in this matter was Zbigniew Ziobro, the then Minister of Justice. For several days now, the media has been publishing conversations illustrating how these funds are used; Mraz would record these conversations for two years.

– former Deputy Justice Minister Marcin Romanowski, one of the people recorded by Mraz, said on Wnet radio. He also emphasized that he was “certain of the incompleteness of the recordings.”

Marcin Romanowski denied circumventing procedures at the Justice Fund. In the conversation he emphasized that “there were no violations of the law.” The MP also commented on “alleged competitive manipulation”. He said that “the job of the competition committees was to make recommendations, not to decide.” As he added, “the decision was made by the administrator.”

“We have not used subsidies”

He also denied the use of Justice Fund subsidies by Sovereign Poland during the election campaign. He said that the party has received money from contributions and its own contributions.

For several days now, the media has been publishing transcripts of conversations recorded by Tomasz Mraz about the spending of money from the Justice Fund, the main purpose of which is to help crime victims. The latest materials, published on Tuesday by TVP Info, include a conversation between Mraz and Romanowski about clashes within the structures of the United Right.

The interlocutors raised, among other things, the issue of alleged accusations against the then head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak. Romanowski reportedly said in the recording that this was “the work of Morawiecki and his people” and that Morawiecki was also behind the “attacks” on the Justice Fund.
