Tusk’s lie
In a statement to PAP, the head of PiS pointed out that Prime Minister Donald Tusk has so far claimed that Poland will not accept migrants under the EU migration pact.
Everything points to Tusk once again saying one thing in Poland and doing something else in the EU
– said Kaczynski.
He added that “Tusk’s lie was exposed by French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, who directly stated during one of the televised debates that the migration pact would not apply to French cities, but to Eastern European countries and that they would be the first to suffer the consequences.” bothered by it.”
Kaczyński added that “it is also disturbing that the agreement to the migration pact was probably forced, among other things, by the Polish government, as proposed by the French Prime Minister.
Therefore, on Monday we will submit a request to convene an extraordinary session of the Sejm to present comprehensive information on this issue by Prime Minister Tusk and the circumstances in which his government agreed to the migration pact and the relocation of illegal migrants in Poland.
– Kaczyński informed.
A week ago, Finance Minister Andrzej Domański told journalists before the EU Council vote on the migration pact that the Polish government would vote against all elements of it.
The government’s position is consistent and clear. We consistently oppose the elements of the migration pact negotiated by the PiS government. In our opinion, the specificity of countries bordering, for example, Belarus, countries facing the increasing pressure of the so-called hybrid war, is not taken into account. The provisions of the Migration Pact do not sufficiently take into account the relationship between responsibility and solidarity. The PiS government has ruined almost everything that could be ruined during these negotiations
– said Domanski.
We vote against all elements of the migration pact
– added.
What does the migration pact mean in practice?
The reform was proposed by the European Commission in 2016, but was blocked by some member states due to the proposed forced relocation of migrants. The European Parliament voted on the new version initially agreed with the EU Council in December 2023 and presented by the EC in 2021.
The most controversial was the so-called voluntary solidarity mechanism, which requires the deployment of at least 30,000 people per year. people. Member States can alternatively pay PLN 20,000. euros for each person who is not admitted to or participates in operations at the Union’s external borders.
The migration pact will still have to be accepted by the EU Council, where the member states are represented. The Polish authorities had already announced their vote against, because – as the Ministry of the Interior and Administrative Affairs argues – work on the regulations ended a week after the swearing-in of the current government and the result of this work was implemented by the previous team. , is “far from sufficient”.
