Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin flew to Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, to attend the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government. This was reported by RIA News.
The meeting will be held in both narrow and expanded formats.
Participants are expected to consider current issues on trade and economic cooperation in the CIS, as well as a number of draft documents in areas such as energy and transport, ecology, protection of intellectual property, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. They will also sign the joint documents accepted at the meeting.
On May 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at an operational meeting with members of the Russian Security Council, said that the country should pay more attention to relations with the CIS countries.
According to the Russian leader, he spoke with Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov that Russia should “pay more attention to this and talk about how this work will be structured in all aspects, including organizational ones” in the new political cycle.
